Grief Tending
The work of grief is a sacred and courageous offering to life.
Our grief arises from the depth of our love for life. Our tears and our cries are holy waters that restore us to belonging with all of Creation. Without proper support, ensconced in a society that asks us to grieve privately, and for our grief to be neat and short-lived, grief can get stuck, making us numb and depressed.
There is another way: gathering the courage to grieve fully with the support of loving witness, the Earth, our ancestors and guides, song, and ritual. I am called to this work because I know from my own story and from the many people I have accompanied through grief that honoring our grief, and fully embodying it, returns us to full aliveness and initiates us into a deeper wholeness of being. It is an offering on behalf of life.
I call myself a grief doula because, like a birth doula, I am in service to your process, to the wisdom of your body and heart, to what you need, to the divine timing of the process of bearing your grief. I offer support, discernment, ritual possibilities, visualizations, prompts, and a strong and sturdy container of presence in which to fully feel. It is my honor to get to do this work with ALL kinds of grief that people carry, both those that are commonly recognized by society and those that long to be honored.
